WHAT IS MATCH RACING?

A match racing is a regatta for two boats, racing each other around a course. The race course is a windward-leeward course, sailed twind round. The lead crew has the advantage sailing upwind (into the breeze) because they can blanket the trailing boat's wind and slow them, pushing them farther behind. Downwind, the trailing crew has the advantage because they can blanket the lead boat's wind and close some of the distance.

WHY MATCH RACING?

You will learn all about dial-ups, circling, lead/push, the hook, shift left and other match racing tactics and techniques. When you try it, you will find match racing to be a captivating form of sailboat racing – fully engaging, relentlessly exciting and great fun. The America’s Cup way.

SAILORS AND BOATS

The clinic is targeted to racing sailors. Prior match racing experience is not required. However, some form of sailing experience and background is necessary. The clinic will use F-36 Boats (the same boats as used in the Monsoon Cup). The clinic will be non-spinnaker. Enrollment is limited, based on a first come, first serve basis.
